Before we begin to applaud the so called courage and valour of PM-n for criticizing the army Generals, it will be better if we re-examine their statements and stances.
They appear to be criticizing the Generals but on what premise?
It is the same old theme of ”the army and the generals are serving the interests of America rather than the national interests of Pakistan”.
And what in their opinion are the national interests of Pakistan? Specially against, and in the context of the “American interests”?
Have we not heard it before? That the war on terror is not our war, that we should not be attacking “our own people”, and the Taliban are our own kith and kin.
This hue and cry against the war on terror must be music to the ears of the hawks in the rank of the very Generals they are pretending to oppose. It strengthens their bargaining position vis- a- vis the US, morally supports the militants and stifles all voices of sanity in the country.
In the recent past, Shahbaz Sharif had come out with the plea to the talibans that they may not practice suicide bombing in Punjab as Punjab is their like-minded province. These strange stances boggle the mind.
Perhaps living in Saudi Arab for long years has adversely affected their reasoning faculties. But not their cunningness.
Now what ever they and their party men say seems to be a variation of this theme of ventriloquists.
