Iraqi intelligence is saying that al-Qaeda is using individuals with mental disabilities to carry out suicide attacks, because of a shortage of suicide bombers in its ranks. In one case, security forces discovered gunmen holding three people with mental disabilities aged between 15 and 25. These people do “not know or are unaware of what they are doing when al-Qaeda sends them to detonate in the middle of crowds of people,” said an Interior Ministry representative.
The case in Pakistan is no different except that it may not be so difficult to find folks with mental disability as may be the case in some of the other countries.
