All the 53,817 registered women voters in PK-95, Lower Dir, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, were forcibly prevented from voting in the bye-election held on May 7, 2015.

Petitions were filed, both in the Peshawar High Court and the Election Commission of Pakistan, to set aside the election, not notify the winner, and to order a fresh bye-election.

The ECP, taking suo moto notice, clubbed together all the ECP petitions.

On May 27, the Peshawar High Court’s dismissed the petition of 12 women voters of PK-95, Lower Dir, against being barred from voting in the bye-election.

The two-member bench, headed by the CJ PHC, decided that the petition was non-maintainable as the petitioners had failed to provide proof of their contention.
